AI in Museum Communication Practice
International study
The AI in Museum Communication Practice study explores how artificial intelligence is experienced in everyday museum communication, social media, and digital engagement.
As AI technologies become increasingly embedded in professional practice, the project investigates how museum professionals navigate emerging opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations in their work.
The study examines:
how AI is being adopted—or intentionally not adopted—in museum communication;
how AI influences everyday professional practice and decision-making;
how practitioners perceive its impact on communication, trust, creativity, and institutional voice.

The study also included an optional follow-up interview phase, allowing participants to discuss their experiences in greater depth and provide richer perspectives on AI use within different institutional contexts.
Research updates
Analysis of the survey and interview data is currently underway.
Research findings will be presented through conference papers, journal publications, and other scholarly and professional outputs. Updates will be shared on this website as the project progresses.
